May 11th 2024 Launch

Hey everyone! Wally The Seal 2 has finally arrived! The development of this game was definitely pretty wonky, but I've created something I'm genuinely proud of and excited to share with everyone.

After Wally The Seal was released, I took the following year to start developing an RPG called Outset. I spent a majority of the time just working on the battle system and learned a ton during that interval. Around the end of 2022, I wanted a small break and figured I could bang out a sequel to Wally 1 as the game only took about 4 months of work and I figured we could make a sequel faster than that. BOY was I wrong! Very early into its development, I hit several large coding walls, mostly regarding enemy navigation and separating different types of geometry. This caused the development time to balloon, in addition to my artist being pretty flakey in regards to getting assets to me on time. I really wasn't a fan of where the game was headed for the first few months. I felt my scope was too big and that I had vastly overestimated my skills. This all coupled with personal matters and college had stagnated the games progress significantly.

 I really got my act together around late 2023, and development picked back up. Most of the coding issues were solved, and I started adding in new features and systems. My vision of the game was much clearer, and I started working on the game with pride rather than contempt. And now it's finally ready. I really feel like I put my all into this project, and I'm glad I didn't give up on it. Now with Wally The Seal 2 complete, my plan at the moment is a small break, and then I'll get back to work on my RPG. I would love to have that game out by 2025 sometime, but I won't make any promises until I have more information. Wally The Seal 2 will continue to receive updates such as performance optimization, bug fixes, and small content additions. However, as the game is essentially a full experience from launch, it’s probably best not to expect any large content updates like the first game had.

 Whew! This post rambled quite a bit longer than I anticipated, but I wanted to be transparent about why this game took longer than it should have. Anyways, until next time, thank you so much for your continued support, and please enjoy Wally The Seal 2!
