New Power Up: Wally's Beach Balls

The Beach Ball power up can be used by pressing R and will allow players to briefly see the location of Map Items (Salmon & Keys / Exit Gate / Mysterious penguin / Coin / Beach Ball)

Players will start in both difficulties already holding a Beach Ball and 2 additional Beach Balls will be spawned around the respective map

New Extra Menu

The Extra Menu can be accessed through the Main Menu and will allow players to access new extra features and statistics

Added Skins

Skins for Wally can be accessed through the Extra Menu, I have added 3 new skins that can be unlocked through various in game challenges (Skins will not change Wally's functionality, sound radius size, or kill box size and are purely for aesthetic purposes)

Added Extra Maps

Extra Maps can be accessed through the Extra Menu, I have added 1 extra map to the game that can be unlocked through an in game challenge (The Extra Map shares the same properties as normal difficulty but will not count for time specific challenges)

Added Challenges

Challenges can be accessed through the Extra Menu, the challenge menu will display the various challenges built into the game and keep track of which ones you have completed

Added Time Challenges

A new timer has been built into the game that will track how long it takes players to beat each map, upon beating a map, "Finish Time" will be displayed in the corner of the victory screen showing time taken in the map. New challenge times can be found in the Challenge Menu. (Timer will always start upon hitting play and end when encountering the exit gate with all collectibles for all maps)

Updated the Display Options Menu

The Display Options Menu has been changed to a default options tab, I have streamlined the menu to only include display and resolution options now (Every other button before did absolutely nothing, I promise you). In addition, there is now a Sound Adjustment slider to control game audio and ON & OFF buttons to display a Timer in game to help for Time Challenges.

-Dev Notes-

Hello all! I have returned to Wally The Seal for one final update. The code for Wally was made at the beginning of 2021, and I have learned so much since working on my RPG. Because of this however, much of Wally's code is very outdated and that makes working with it now very difficult. Nonetheless, I have spent the month of October away from my RPG and focused on bringing everyone one last update to Wally as a small celebration for Halloween. Initially I wasn't sure of how to update Wally, but eventually decided to focus on addressing more problems the original release had. Adding the beach ball power up was a unique endeavor, but one that I felt was essential to making the game more playable to a casual crowd. With its introduction to the game, I hope to help players have an easier time getting through it without being frustrated. I also added new unlockables and challenges that can further add to some interesting gameplay sessions. I really feel like I went all out with this update, and it truly was a test of everything I've learned so far while working on my RPG game. Wally the Seal originally started out as a niche way too hard high school project and even though it's not much, it means so much to me, and I'm glad I've been able to do so much with the original concept. I appreciate anyone who even reads this far or just tries the game out, working on games has been so much fun and as a person it feels refreshing to have a passion again that makes me feel truly happy. Thank you so much for any support and I will see you again in my RPG: Outset, releasing next year!
